Alan Berman Architect PLLC, dba Archetype Architecture is a full-service architecture and interior design firm located on the Upper West Side of New York City. Alan Berman and the staff of architectural and interior designers offer creative, custom, and timeless solutions to each architectural project. Since 2001, we have worked on our clients’ behalf, working with Landmarks, Department of Buildings, and numerous consultants to successfully complete each project.
Archetype Architecture's studio encourages collaboration among our staff of architectural designers and interior designers. All hold professional architecture or interior design degrees and have extensive experience in residential renovation, townhouse design, and interiors.
Our basic services include:
Predesign
Survey existing spaces and create existing plans. Research all applicable zoning and codes.
Schematic Design
Create preliminary design plans and renderings.
Design Development
Further development of design of chosen scheme, including plans, elevations, and renderings. Presentation of millwork and material options.
Approvals and Coordination
Development of drawings and presentation to Landmarks and Department of Buildings for approvals.
Construction Documents
Creation of construction documents which include all necessary plans, elevations, details, sections, schedules, and notes. Coordination with consultants.
Bidding
Walk through with bidders, coordination, and analysis of bids.
Construction Administration
On-site job meetings, observation of contractor’s work, and final punch list.
Interior Design
Research, presentations, development of specifications and spreadsheets for all built-in materials. Purchasing, tracking, delivery coordination, and inventory of materials.
Interior Decorating
Research, presentations, development of specifications and spreadsheets for furniture, window treatments, and all other freestanding materials. Purchasing, tracking, delivery coordination, and inventory of materials.
