Archetype Architecture is a full-service architecture and interior design firm located on the Upper West Side of New York City.

Founded by Alan Berman in 2001, the practice focuses on custom residential work — carefully executed renovations and contemporary designs that respect their existing context.

We advocate for our clients while navigating the Landmarks Preservation Commission, the Department of Buildings, and specialized consultants through every stage of a project, from first survey to final punch list.

Our studio is rooted in collaboration. Staff members hold professional degrees and bring substantial experience in residential renovations, townhouse design, and interiors — united by a shared conviction that thoughtful design elevates everyday life.
